CYCLING - Tour of the Lake District
This 4 day cycling route takes in some of the most spectacular roads, offering breathtaking views across the mountains and lakes which make up the The Lake District National Park. The daily distances aren't huge, but allowance is made for a few slow, intense assents up some of the challenging mountain passes, including Honister and Kirkstone. Total accent - 4976m. Highest point 454m.
The suggested route is approximately 250km (156 miles) in total , which can be completed as suggested in 4 days, but those who have a faster pace to life, can adapt and change.
Stop off along the way and enjoy the many lakes, picturesque villages and towns, including Buttermere, Coniston, Hawkshead, Windermere and Glenridding.
Starting and finishing in Penrith, which is on the West Coast Main Railway Line, makes it easily accessible. Penrith has a great selection of Hotels and Bed & Breakfast accommodation for you to choose from.
